WARNER HOME VIDEO LAUNCHES THE FIRST AND ONLY AUTHORIZED STANLEY KUBRICK WEB SITE

Warner Home Video (WHV) has launched www.kubrickfilms.com, a new web site dedicated to the late, legendary director Stanley Kubrick. It’s the company’s first major web site devoted to a single filmmaker and is authorized by and prepared with the help of the Kubrick estate.

Stated Anthony Frewin, one of Kubrick’s former assistants for more than 20 years, who worked with the family on this project, "With an abundance of the latest technology at his side, Stanley was a one-man electronic communications center who presaged the Internet and who saw its potential early on. He would always say, ‘You can never have enough information; you can never ask enough questions.’ So this site is not only a tribute to his films, but also a vindication of his vision. We hope the information will prove vitally important to all of Stanley's fans and followers; I know he himself would have enjoyed it."

"Stanley Kubrick was a filmmaker for the ages -- a pioneer and a visionary," said Mark Horak, WHV’s senior vice president, marketing. "We are proud to have so many of his films in our library and to have had the privilege of working closely with his estate to create this site. We anticipate it to be a resource for Kubrick film buffs, as well as giving fans a further appreciation of his work."

The Kubrick site includes the following features:

Frequently Asked Questions. Answers to questions about Kubrick’s life and work. Issues that have been argued and, in some cases, erroneously reported by other media, are addressed with official statements from the Kubrick estate.
Kubrick 101. A virtual film studies course, with Kubrick’s ground breaking innovations on each film analyzed in the context of filmmaking history and technique.
New Documentary. Up-to-date information about a new documentary being prepared by the Kubrick estate scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of this year.
Special Content: Galleries of rare Kubrick photos, multimedia vignettes about his life and work, a message board and chat area, biographical information, filmography and awards. Latest news and product information, translated into five languages, are also available.
Additional Elements Planned: Rarely seen photos, interviews with actors and peers of Kubrick, simultaneous DVD virtual theatre screenings and online chats with those who worked with or knew Kubrick during his 50-year career.
Stanley Kubrick made 13 memorable films, his last being "Eyes Wide Shut" starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, which director Martin Scorsese called one of the ten best films of the past decade. In addition to "Eyes Wide Shut," WHV offers the The Stanley Kubrick Collection, which includes "2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY," "LOLITA," "A CLOCKWORK ORANGE," "BARRY LYNDON," "THE SHINING," "FULL METAL JACKET," "DR. STRANGELOVE," "PATHS OF GLORY" and "THE KILLING."

Spanning over two years of intense struggle with his film, his family, financial decline, and spiritual crisis, AMERICAN MOVIE is a portrayal of ambition, obsession, excess, and one man's quest for the American Dream.

THE ARISTOCATS PURRS ITS WAY INTO THE GOLD CLASSIC COLLECTION ON APRIL 4

New To DVD, With Extra Features

THE ARISTOCATS, the heartwarming, tune-filled, Parisian adventure about an elegant cat named Duchess, her three adorable kittens and the perils they face when catnapped, makes its way to VHS and DVD on April 4, 2000 as part of Walt Disney Home Video's "Gold Classic Collection." An unforgettable mix of wild adventure, colorful characters and jazzy music, this timeless treasure was the last animated feature to get the, nod of approval from Walt Disney himself. On moratorium for several years, the Gold Classic Collection VHS version now features a special "Fun With Music" booklet. THE ARISTOCATS has never been released on DVD before, and this new issue has an interactive Read Along feature and an interactive Trivia Game among its extras. Walt Disney Home Video is proud to present THE ARISTOCATS as an April "Gold Classic Collection" release at the collectible price of $22.99 (SRP) for VHS and $29.99 (SRP) for DVD.

On VHS and DVD, THE ARISTOCATS "Gold Classic Collection" editions features an exclusive "Fun With Music" booklet in-pack, an entertaining and colorful booklet that introduces young viewers to music using activities and musical themes derived from THE ARISTOCATS.

On DVD, THE ARISTOCATS has an interactive Read Along, a teaching tool that can be used by kids alone, or with their parents. Featuring great music, graphics and animated page turns, the Read Along has two options: one is a narrated version, which kids can enjoy on their own, and a second option allows parents the great opportunity to read to their children. The DVD also features a special Trivia Game, a fun interactive challenge that can tally and rank a user's score after each game. The multiple choice trivia game, based on the film, is supplemented with sound bites for right and wrong answers. Kids can use the chapter search function on the DVD player to return to certain scenes and search for trivia game answers.

THE ARISTOCATS is a cherished favorite of generations, including millions of baby-boomers who fondly remember the film as one of Disney's coolest, jazziest and hippest full-length animated films. Set in Paris, THE ARISTOCATS is the story of a cultured cat named Duchess and her three feisty kittens - Toulouse, Berlioz and Marie. When the felines' adoring mistress, millionairess Madame Bonfamille, names them sole heirs to her estate, her once faithful butler Edgar, transformed by greed, enacts a plan to do away with the cats. Catnapping them into the French countryside, Edgar's plan is foiled by a pair of hilarious hillbilly bassett hounds, but Duchess and kittens are still left far from home. A fantastic musical adventure ensues as the quartet meet Thomas O'Malley, a streetwise alleycat who introduces Duchess and her family to his swinging, jazz-cat friends, while helping them get back to Paris and a final confrontation with the treacherous butler Edgar.

The much-loved Disney favorite features the delightful French accent of Eva Gabor as the highsociety feline, Duchess, and the unmistakable voice of Scatman Crothers as Scat Cat. Also featured is a who's who of Disney character voices, including Phil Harris (Mowgli in "The Jungle Book") as the lovable Thomas O'Malley; Paul Winchell (Tigger in "Winnie The Pooh") as one of the Jazz cats and veteran Pat Buttram. (TV's "Green Acres") as Napoleon, the hillbilly hound. The delightful Sterling Holloway, the original voice of Winnie the Pooh, provides vocals for Roquefort, the lovable mouse detective.

The legendary Maurice Chevalier, who came out of retirement to perform as a special expression of admiration for Walt Disney, sings THE ARISTOCATS' main title song (of the same name). In addition, the fun-filled soundtrack includes such well-known Disney favorites as "Ev'rybody Wants to be a Cat" performed by Phil Harris and Scatman Crothers and "Scales and Arpeggios," which was written by the renowned Sherman brothers ("Mary Poppins ... .. Winnie The Pooh") and performed by Harris.

THE ARISTOCATS is rated "G" by the Motion Picture Association of America and has a running time of 79 minutes. It is presented in Digital ly-Mastered Hi-Fi Stereo Surround Sound and is close-captioned for the hearing impaired.

WARNER HOME VIDEO CONTINUES INTERNET INNOVATION WITH SECOND VIRTUAL THEATRE SCREENING & SIMULTANEOUS ONLINE CHAT WITH "THE MATRIX" ACADEMY AWARD? NOMINEES

All-Time Best Selling, Web-Enabled DVD Invites Worldwide Users To Screen Film Together and Query Movie's Technical Wizards March 23

Poised to repeat their online "first" from late last year, Warner Home Video (WHV) has announced a second event featuring the web-enabled The Matrix DVD.  This time it spotlights the Academy Award?-nominated special effects and technical wizards who helped mastermind the hit futuristic action- thriller which has become the # 1 best-selling DVD of all-time.

On March 23, users all over the world will again share the unique opportunity of simultaneously watching The Matrix while chatting online with its creators -- as they did this past November with writer/directors Andy and Larry Wachowski.  Now, three more filmmakers will participate: Editor Zach Staenberg, Visual Effects supervisor John Gaeta and Sound Designer/Supervising Sound Editor Dane Davis.

Having sold more than two million units, The Matrix is the highest-selling DVD of all time.  It has sold two and one half times more units than the next highest selling disc.  When The Matrix DVD debuted in September 1999, sales skyrocketed to 1 million in less than two weeks -- another record. Voted one of the "Top 10 DVDs of 1999" by Entertainment Weekly and Stereo Review's Sound & Vision Magazine, The Matrix DVD has won praise from magazine editors and reviewers throughout the world.

Listed on more than 60 top 10 lists, The Matrix ranked # 5 at the U.S. box office in 1999 and to date has amassed worldwide revenues of more than a half billion dollars. In addition to the Academy-Award nominations, The Matrix was singled out by the American Cinema Editors, who recently awarded Zach Staenberg this year's "Eddie" for Best Editor on a Dramatic Feature Film, and by the British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTA) which recognized the film's technical achievements with nominations for Best Special Visual Effects, Editing, Sound, Production Design and Cinematography.

"We are thrilled for the opportunity to pull this together again," said Mark Horak WHV's senior vice president, marketing.  "The first event was an overwhelming success and, with the title being honored with four Academy Award? nominations, it's a great way to bring The Matrix fans and the creators of this extraordinary film together."

The event is scheduled for March 23 at 9 p.m. EST / 6 p.m. PST.  Users can register by going to "Online Events" in their DVD-ROM's menu or by accessing The Matrix web site at www.warnervideo.com/matrixevents. Adding to the excitement will be a Matrix trivia contest.  Those participating in the screening/chat will be eligible to win free autographed DVDs and posters.

To participate in the chat/screening, users need a computer equipped with a DVD-ROM drive, The Matrix DVD and an Internet connection.  A cue will alert everyone's computers to trigger the movie to begin at the same time.  Users will then view the movie at DVD quality in a "virtual theatre" and will be able to ask questions of the filmmakers as everybody watches the movie together.   Users without a DVD-ROM computer will be able to participate in the chat only.

The Matrix DVD is enhanced for use on personal computers with DVD-ROM drives using software from InterActual.  This patent-pending technology allows DVD creators to add special web content and conduct online events such as The Matrix Virtual Theater.
