RECORD SETTING SHORT FILM, GEORGE LUCAS IN LOVE AVAILABLE ON DVD NOVEMBER 21ST

The Hottest Gift for Star Wars Fans and Movie Fanatics -

A satire of Shakespeare in Love, GEORGE LUCAS IN LOVE searches for the "true" origins of the Star Wars saga as a young George Lucas tackles writer’s block while trying to complete his final screenplay for USC Film School. Lucas searches for inspiration, ultimately finding it in the colorful and ever-familiar characters that already surround him.

The GEORGE LUCAS IN LOVE DVD offers an enhanced version of the original Lucas that includes "pop up trivia" about Star Wars and historical facts on the real George Lucas, as well as a filmmakers discussion track. In addition, there is a 10-minute segment of behind the scenes footage that includes interviews with the cast, the director, Joe Nussbaum and producer, Joseph Levy. The DVD also includes a personal letter from George Lucas to the filmmakers, which can only be accessed through a secret code, found on the MediaTrip.com site. As a bonus, the DVD comes with 3 additional live action shorts exclusively from MediaTrip.com:

Evil Hill: In Evil Hill, the truth comes out as to why the once mild-mannered Mr. Evil (not yet a doctor) turned to a life of crime and revenge. With ample nods to Notting Hill and Austin Powers-International Man of Mystery, the film directed by Ryan Schifrin is pure parody.

Film Club: To break the rules, you have to know the rules – but damn, Film Club just has so many. The satire of Fight Club (starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton) is loaded with quick jokes and plenty of digs at the behemoth known as the film industry.

Swing Blade: Done as a "mock" trailer, Swing Blade is a wonderfully funny take on what would happen if Billy Bob Thornton’s character from Sling Blade went out for a night on the town with those crazy cats from Swingers.

The GEORGE LUCAS IN LOVE DVD will be available November 21st at a suggested retail price of $14.95 at national retail chains such as: Tower Records and Video; Barnes & Noble; Borders; Blockbuster; the Wherehouse and Musicland retail chains including Sam Goody and Suncoast stores with additional chains rolling out the title throughout the holiday season.

THE EXORCIST THE VERSION YOU'VE NEVER SEEN DEBUTS ON DVD DECEMBER 26

Director William Friedkin's Brand New Version of His Horror Masterpiece, was $40 Million Winner In Recent Theatrical Re-Release

On the day after Christmas," a 1974 Newsweek cover story began, "a film called `THE EXORCIST' opened in 22 cities across America. Since then, all hell has broken loose."

The film went on to electrify a generation and incite hysteria and controversy the likes of which no one had ever seen. Now, exactly 26 years later, director William Friedkin has restored 11 minutes of footage not included in the original and created THE EXORCIST- THE VERSION YOU'VE NEVER SEEN which will be released on DVD and VHS December 26. The DVD will be for sale at $24.98 SRP and the VHS will be for rent.

CREATING A WHOLE NEW EXPERIENCE

When Friedkin and producer/screenwriter William Peter Blatty were given the opportunity to revisit "THE EXORCIST" this year, they were thrilled. "This is the version Bill Blatty always believed in," Friedkin says, "and it's taken me 26 years to see why and finally agree with him. The restored footage not only deepens the spiritual foundation of the film, but adds some truly terrifying moments as well."

Audiences and critics agreed with Friedkin, and the recent national theatrical re-release won critical raves and generated more than $40-million in major cities across the country. The Chicago Tribune's Michael Wilmington gave it four stars, saying it was "even better than in 1973. `THE EXORCIST' can still scare the hell out of us." Entertainment Weekly said the movie "remains one of the most viscerally harrowing films ever made" while the San Jose Mercury-News noted, "if you have a spine, it will surely tingle at the newly expanded version."

The added minutes, fully integrated into the film, sharpen the impact of the already astonishing performances by Linda Blair, Ellen Burstyn, Jason Miller. Max von Sydow and Lee J. Cobb. They include a "nervous disorder" diagnosis, expansion of Father Merrin's arrival before the ritual, priestly doubts during the ritual, an epilogue with Lt. Kinderman and Father Dyer and most notably, a shattering staircase descent by Regan.

Friedkin and Blatty also restructured their new version to put audiences in the middle of the action by digitally remastering the original mono soundtrack into six-track surround sound and enriched it with new special sound effects, new atmospheric sounds and some new music. The DVD has a stunning state-of-the-art audio remix in both Dolby Surround Stereo (mono compatible) and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround EX.

Other special features available on the DVD include an all-new feature-length audio commentary by director William Friedkin, cast/director film highlights, theatrical trailers, 4 TV spots and 2 radio spots, scene access and subtitles in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. The DVD is in a "matted" widescreen format preserving the aspect ratio of its original theatrical release (16x9 widescreen Format 1.85:1) and is enhanced for widescreen TV.

THE EXORCIST -- The Version You've Never Seen is enriched by an ever-changing web site (www.theexorcist.net) with multimedia, never-before-seen images, video footage and interviews with the creators of the film.

ABOUT "THE EXORCIST"

"THE EXORCIST" was an enormous critical and box-office hit and grossed upwards of $165 million in the U.S., making it the second highest moneymaker in film history at the time, behind "The Godfather" (1972). William Blatty, who based the screenplay on his #1 best-selling novel won an Academy Award® for Best Adapted Screenplay for the film which also won the Golden Globe for Best Film Drama and received 10 Oscar nominations, including Best Director for Friedkin. It was his second nomination after winning for "The French Connection." Ellen Burstyn, Linda Blair and Jason Miller were also nominated for Academy Awards® for their performances.

"THE EXORCIST," in its original shorter form, proved that it was as powerful as ever, in a re-release in England last year, winding up as one of the year's highest grossers there.

ELLEN DEGENERES : THE BEGINNING’ ON HBO HOME VIDEO JANUARY 30

After years on television and the big screen, Ellen DeGeneres made her long-awaited return to the stage this summer in ELLEN DEGENERES: THE BEGINNING, a live performance at the Beacon Theater in New York. The performance debuted on HBO in July and is now coming to HBO Home Video. ELLEN DEGENERES: THE BEGINNING will be available on video and DVD on January 30, featuring the humorous, offbeat insights that have made Ellen a star. Priced at $19.98 VHS/DVD, the comedy special has a runtime of 65 minutes and has an order due date of January 2.

ELLEN DEGENERES: THE BEGINNING is Ellen’s first full-length stand-up television performance in eight years. With some of her most hilarious material to date, Ellen delivers her outrageous take on forgetting people’s names and videotaping your sex life. Ellen also explores fashion—"You don’t want to wear some outfit that someone could have the exact same thing on when you show up at a party. It’s happened to me twice and both times it was William Shatner."

Ellen’s previous HBO credits include two solo "One-Night Stand" specials, appearances on "The Larry Sanders Show," a "Young Comedians" special and a "Women of the Night" special. She also executive produced and starred in one segment of the HBO Films drama "If These Walls Could Talk 2," which debuted on HBO and HBO Home Video earlier this year.

HBO HOME VIDEO RELEASES ‘CHEATERS,’

Starring Jeff Daniels ("Pleasantville," "Dumb and Dumber"), Jena Malone ("Stepmom," "For Love of the Game"), and Paul Sorvino ("Goodfellas," "Bullworth"), CHEATERS is coming to home video and DVD. Sneaking into stores nationwide on January 16, this HBO Original Movie is available for order on VHS by December 26 and on DVD by December 19. CHEATERS has a run time of 106 minutes and is rated R.

When Steinmetz High teacher Dr. Gerard Plecki recruits seven of his best students to compete in a renowned academic decathlon against the school that has won for the last nine years, he knows that the odds are stacked against them. But what if the playing field could be leveled? What if there was an opportunity to see the questions in advance? Would you righteously turn your back on the temptation? Or would you do whatever is necessary to deliver the sweet taste of success?

Based on a real-life cheating scandal in 1995, this HBO Films production takes a provocative look at the moral issues raised by the "winning is everything" mentality. CHEATERS tells the story of a group of students who decide that winning is more important than playing by the rules.

Offering a fresh and irreverent look at a contemporary urban high school, CHEATERS was written and directed by John Stockwell (HBO’s "Breast Men"), executive produced by Emmy Award® winning producers Suzanne de Passe and Suzanne Coston ("Lonesome Dove," "The Temptations") and produced by Kevin Reidy (HBO’s "The Jack Bull," "Ever After").

He and his evil Brotherhood - the mammoth Sabretooth (Tyler Mane), the metamorph Mystique (Rebecca Romijn-Stamos) and the near-sighted, far-jumping Toad (Ray Park) - will stop at nothing to ensure that future, even it is threatens the very existence of mankind... or mutantkind.
