THIRTEEN DAYS AVAILABLE FROM NEW LINE HOME ENTERTAINMENT ON JULY 10

Critically Lauded Cuban Missile Crisis Docudrama Launches infinifilm™, New Line Home Entertainment Premium DVD Label

New Line Home Entertainment today announced the release of THIRTEEN DAYS, the complex portrait of the urgency, suspense and paralyzing chaos of the Cuban Missile Crisis. THIRTEEN DAYS is New Line Home Entertainment's premiere infinifilm™ DVD title, and will debut in stores on rental VHS and DVD and for sale for $26.98 on July 10.

Hailed as the best film of the year and "the most riveting, absorbing political thriller since All The President's Men," by NBC's Jeffrey Lyons, THIRTEEN DAYS tells the story of the Cuban Missile Crisis, widely considered both the decisive moment of the Cold War and President Kennedy's finest hour. The film stars Kevin Costner (Dances With Wolves, Bull Durham) as Special Assistant to the President, Kenneth P. O'Donnell, Bruce Greenwood (Double Jeopardy, The Sweet Hereafter) as President John F. Kennedy, and Steven Culp (Nurse Betty, television's JAG) as Robert F. Kennedy.

Moving from top secret meetings at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, to the skies above Cuba, where U.S. spy planes document the progressive Soviet missile build-up, to the high seas, where a standoff between U.S. and Soviet ships threatens to trigger war, THIRTEEN DAYS expertly chronicles a moment when the world stood on the brink of nuclear catastrophe.

Seen largely through the eyes of trusted presidential aide and confidante Kenny O'Donnell, THIRTEEN DAYS, offers an insider's view of the momentous events of October 1962. Drawing on sources such as White House tapes, memoirs, oral histories, interviews, and CIA documents, THIRTEEN DAYS features an impressive array of historical figures including Robert McNamara, Adlai Stevenson, Theodore Sorenson, Andrei Gromyko, McGeorge Bundy, Dean Acheson, Dean Rusk, and General Curtis LeMay.

"THIRTEEN DAYS is an ideal title with which to launch the infinifilm™ brand because the historic nature of the film really lends itself to exploring 'beyond-the-movie' material, and allows us to capitalize on the educational benefits of DVDs," explains Stephen Einhorn, President of New Line Home Entertainment. "What we're able to do is broaden out from the film to capture core information that's driving the drama and give viewers a greater understanding not only of the film, but of the subject matter and the historical era."

The THIRTEEN DAYS infinifilm™ DVD features an anamorphic widescreen version of the film; filmmaker commentary by Director Roger Donaldson, producer and actor Kevin Costner, writer David Self and Executive Producer Michael De Luca; archival commentary with historical figures including John F. Kennedy, Sergei Khrushchev, Ernest R. May, Philip D. Zeilikow and Pierre Salinger; and a historical information subtitle track with pieces of historical information integrated into the film as a series of subtitle prompts. The DVD also includes animated menus, 5.1 surround sound, 2.0 stereo surround sound, the theatrical trailer, deleted scenes as well as cast and crew filmographies. Additionally, the DVD contains "The Roots of The Cuban Missile Crisis," a documentary; multi-angle visual effects scene deconstructions and a historical figures biographical gallery. The DVD-ROM content includes the "script-to-screen" screenplay feature, a link to the original website and the "hotspot."
