This classic of British horror has been painstakingly restored by VCI (with the cooperation of the British Film Institute) and is now complete and uncut; including more than 2 minutes of additional footage, which had been cut from the U.S. version, titled HORROR HOTEL. This also marks the first time ever this uncut version has been seen on video with its original title.

THE CITY OF THE DEAD is an extraordinarily good chiller scripted by George Baxt, which still has the power to frighten fans of the horror genre. A college student who also has an interest in witchcraft and the occult (Venetia Stevenson) goes to the small New England village of Whitewood. This spooky little town becomes even more frightening when the student discovers that the owner of the Raven’s Inn, Mrs. Newless (Patricia Jessel) is really a 268-year old witch. Mrs. Newless had sold her soul to the Devil in order to live again after being burned at the stake and now the whole town is part of her coven, including the student’s history professor (Christopher Lee). Now the whole town has plans to make the college student their next blood sacrifice to the Devil.

DOCTOR ZHIVAGO- AN EPIC MASTERPIECE GOES DIGITAL NOVEMBER 6TH

DOCTOR ZHIVAGO Debuts On Double-Disc DVD with Six Hours of Content Including Omar Sharif Introduction, Commentary by Sharif, Rod Steiger & Sandra Lean and a Behind-The-Scenes Documentary

DOCTOR ZHIVAGO -- David Lean’s Academy Award®-winning landmark film that represents epic moviemaking at its best -- will have its long-awaited debut on a special double-disc DVD on November 6th from Warner Home Video (WHV).

Omar Sharif and Julie Christie star in DOCTOR ZHIVAGO, based on Boris Pasternak’s novel, which was the last of the three great historical sagas made by the grand master of the genre (Lean’s others were The Bridge on the River Kwai and Lawrence of Arabia). The film captured 10 Academy Award® nominations and received five Oscars®, including Best Screenplay. Rod Steiger, Geraldine Chaplin, Alec Guinness, Ralph Richardson and Tom Courtenay also starred.

"We’re proud to bring to DVD this movie masterpiece from Warner Home Video’s library," said Mike Saksa, WHV vice president of U.S. marketing. "DOCTOR ZHIVAGO is one of the bonafide classics of cinema, a work of monumental proportions. With its gripping story, brilliant cinematography, magnificent locations, one of the most memorable music scores in history and stellar cast, it appeals to men and women of every generation. Every DVD household will want to have this in their collection."

"In addition to the new digital transfer and enhanced picture for widescreen TV, we’re pleased to have had Omar Sharif and Rod Steiger reunite and contribute their recollections along with David Lean’s wife, Sandra Lean. The Extras

The complete DOCTOR ZHIVAGO DVD features include:

About the Movie

The 1965 film captures the essence of Boris Pasternak’s Russian tome of remarkable passion and sweeping grandeur, presenting an intimate and deeply emotional story against the enormous backdrop of the Russian Bolshevik Revolution. Over the years, critics have noted that while famous for its portrayal of one of the most cataclysmic periods of the 20th century, the ultimate power of Dr. Zhivago emanates from Lean’s rendering of the fragile, yet indomitable human spirit -- and its capacity for love. Accompanied by Maurice Jarre’s hauntingly memorable score and Freddie Young’s rich photography, the film achieves a lavish level of production values rarely surpassed to this day.

Omar Sharif stars in the title role of Doctor Zhivago, portraying the surgeon-poet over a half-century period. Zhivago, who is married to Tonya (Geraldine Chaplin), an aristocratic girl with whom he raises a family, is also in love with Lara (Julie Christie), a nurse whose life has been destroyed by tragedy. Repeatedly brought together and separated from each woman by war and revolution, Zhivago is torn apart by conflict. He loves Tonya deeply but his poetic soul belongs to Lara. Much like his beloved country, Zhivago’s spirit becomes battered by the devastation of war as he struggles to maintain his individualism in the face of overwhelming odds.

DOCTOR ZHIVAGO’s Oscars® were for Best Screenplay (Robert Bolt), Best Cinematography (Freddie Young), Best Music Score (Maurice Jarre), Best Art Direction - Set Decoration (John Box, Terence Marsh, Dario Simoni) and Best Costume Design (Phyllis Dalton). The film was also nominated for Best Picture, Best Editing, Best Sound, Best Director and Best Supporting Actor (Tom Courtenay).

WAITING FOR GUFFMAN HAS ARRIVED... AND TAKES ITS DVD BOW AUGUST 21

With 14 Additional Scenes and Feature-length Commentaries by  Co-writers Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy

The wait is finally over for fans of the wildly entertaining "mockumentary" WAITING FOR GUFFMAN, as Warner Home Video (WHV) releases the long-awaited DVD on August 21.  Christopher Guest (Best Of Show, This Is Spinal Tap,), Parker Posey (Party Girl, House Of Yes), Fred Willard (Best In Show, Austin Powers) and Catherine O'Hara (Beetlejuice, Home Alone) star in this fractured farce, featuring more than 30 minutes of improvised footage, never seen anywhere else, and an hysterical filmmaker commentary track. The WAITING FOR GUFFMAN DVD has an SRP of $19.98, an 84 minute running time and has an MPAA "R" rating (for brief strong language).

In 1997, with only 29 days of shooting, a super-16 camera and no script, This Is Spinal Tap alumni Christopher Guest and producer Karen Murphy--along with "co-plot conceptualist" Eugene Levy and a talented cast of funny people--created what quickly became a cult favorite, WAITING FOR GUFFMAN. With 60 hours of material to sift through in the final edit, the filmmakers were disciplined to focus on the main storyline, even at the expense of hilarious scenes. "We had a lot of distracting, fun, good stuff, but our main focus was the show in Blaine, Missouri," says Murphy.  Although it was impossible to include all of the great material in the final cut, many of those additional scenes have finally found their way to DVD in this must-own collector's edition of the film.

The WAITING FOR GUFFMAN DVD is in 16x9 widescreen anamorphic format and contains 14 additional scenes specially compiled by director/actor Christopher Guest, a feature length commentary by co-writers, Guest and Levy, the original theatrical trailer, extensive production notes and subtitles in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.

WAITING FOR GUFFMAN SYNOPSIS:

Fresh from his theatrical triumphs as the director of such critically acclaimed productions as "Barefoot in the Park" and "Backdraft" in Blaine, Missouri, Corky St. Clair (Christopher Guest) is now taking on the biggest show of his life: A lavish musical review commemorating 150 years of the town's history -- "Red, White, and Blaine."  Hopeful that a theatrical achievement such as this may be his ticket back to Broadway, Corky is waiting for agent Mort Guffman to travel from New York to Blaine to experience his grand production.  Open auditions result in a talented local cast including Dr. Pearl, the dentist (Eugene Levy), travel agents Ron and Sheila Albertson (Fred Willard and Catherine O'Hara), Dairy Queen counter girl Libby Mae Brown (Parker Posey), a local mechanic (Matt Keeslar), and a retired taxidermist (Lewis Arquette).  Under the eyes of a documentary crew that is capturing the "sesquicentennial" events, Corky has designed a show that will salute Blaine's historical highlights -- the founding of the little town with a big heart, its reputation as the Stool Capitol of the World and, not to be forgotten, Blaine's UFO encounter/potluck dinner of 1946.  The big question is: when will Guffman arrive?

Double-Disc DVD Packed with Extras: ‘The Battle Over Citizen Kane’ Documentary, Separate Feature-Length Commentaries from Roger Ebert & Peter Bogdanovich, Trailers, Newsreels, Interviews & Rare Photos

Orson Welles’ CITIZEN KANE -- the Academy-Award®-winning masterwork that expanded filmmaking frontiers like no other movie in history -- will be released for the first time September 25 as a double-disc DVD in a newly packaged 60th anniversary collector’s edition from Warner Home Video (WHV).

The DVD of CITIZEN KANE will sell at a collectible $29.99 SRP and the VHS for $19.98 SRP.

"We began our three-year restoration process by searching for the best available film elements and then applying our latest digital technologies to restore the picture and audio," explained Ned Price, vice president of video mastering for Warner Bros. "As a result, CITIZEN KANE now looks and sounds better than it did even in its original theatrical release."

CITIZEN KANE, the latest of the "crown jewel" releases from WHV’s vast library of classic films, was chosen as the #1 film of all time on the American Film Institute’s list of the 100 Greatest American Movies.

"We’re proud to be releasing the greatest film of all time," said Mike Saksa, WHV’s vice president of U.S. marketing. The second disc in this double-disc DVD release is The Battle Over Citizen Kane, the two-hour Oscar®-nominated documentary that chronicles the titanic struggle between filmmaker Orson Welles and newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst, who claimed CITIZEN KANE was a thinly veiled and slanderous account of his own life. The documentary reveals the fascinating behind-the-scenes story of how Hearst used his formidable power to try to stop production and distribution of the film, and how he ultimately sought to destroy Welles himself.

EXTRAS! EXTRAS!

Disc one of the double-disc DVD edition includes CITIZEN KANE with the following special features:

Disc two on the CITIZEN KANE collector’s edition DVD includes the two-hour documentary, The Battle Over Citizen Kane, featuring interviews with Welles, the stars of CITIZEN KANE and associates of Welles and Hearst, rare footage from Hearst’s San Simeon estate and Welles’ historic The War of the Worlds broadcast and illuminating biographical profiles of Welles and Hearst.

About Orson Welles and CITIZEN KANE

CITIZEN KANE, according to director Martin Scorsese, made Orson Welles "responsible for inspiring more people to be film directors than anyone else in the history of cinema."

Starring, produced, directed and co-written by Welles, CITIZEN KANE opened May 1, 1941 at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood and was nominated that same year for nine Academy Awards®, winning the Oscar® for Best Screenplay.

Welles himself played Charles Foster Kane in a role that spanned the publisher’s life, moving from boyish, ambitious young man to the bloated and embittered recluse he became as he aged. Joseph Cotten made an auspicious screen debut as Jedidiah Leland, newspaper reporter and Kane’s longtime friend, from whom he has become bitterly estranged over the issue of journalistic integrity. Other actors included Everett Sloane, Agnes Moorehead, Ruth Warrick, Paul Stewart and William Alland as the investigative reporter who delves into Kane’s life and his mysterious "Rosebud." Alan Ladd and Arthur O’Connell appeared uncredited as reporters.

The legendary Gregg Toland was the film’s cinematographer, and Robert Wise, later a two-time Academy Award®-winning director, was the editor on the picture.

After remaining out of circulation for many years, in the early 1960s CITIZEN KANE was selected by a panel of film critics as the greatest film of all time. During the ensuing

years, in poll after poll, CITIZEN KANE has been consistently ranked as the highest embodiment of film art. Says critic Roger Ebert, "[Sixty] years later, this towering achievement is as fresh, as provoking, as entertaining, as funny, as sad, as brilliant, as it ever was. Many agree it is the greatest film of all time." Critic and film historian Arthur Knight observed, "Less by imitation than by inspiration, the Orson Welles film has altered the look not only of American films, but of films the world over."
