With Enhanced Reissue of the Original on DVD plus DVD Debuts and for the 4 Sequels November 20 All-New Digital Transfers

In celebration of Clint Eastwood¹s thirty years behind the badge as "Dirty Harry" Callahan, Warner Home Video (WHV) is going to make your day with an anniversary DVD reissue of the movie that started it all, DIRTY HARRY, plus all four sequels - MAGNUM FORCE, THE ENFORCER, SUDDEN IMPACT and THE DEAD POOL - premiering with all new digital transfers on DVD on November 20.

Also available on that date, will be the acclaimed PBS American Masters Documentary, CLINT EASTWOOD: OUT OF THE SHADOWS and the 25th Anniversary DVD release of Eastwood’s landmark western, THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES.  The individual releases are all priced at $19.98 SRP for DVD. The 5-movie DVD Dirty Harry gift sets are $79.92 SRP.

DIRTY HARRY: Do you feel lucky?  Eastwood knocks the movie world on its ear, making his momentous debut as Harry Callahan, hot on the heels of the Scorpio Killer, in what Time Magazine declared as "one of 1971¹s 10 best." The DVD version of DIRTY HARRY contains the documentary Dirty Harry - Celebrating Thirty Years of an American Hero, an all-new special hosted by Robert Urich, and featuring interviews with Eastwood and other cast and crew from the "DIRTY HARRY" films, and the theatrical trailer. Rated R.  102 mins.

MAGNUM FORCE: The explosive sequel to Dirty Harry finds vigilante killers who hide behind badges thinking Harry will embrace their unorthodox tactics... but they¹ve seriously misjudged Harry.   The DVD version of MAGNUM FORCE will feature the documentary The Hero Cop: Yesterday and Today and the theatrical trailer. Rated R. 123 mins.

THE ENFORCER: Activism is one thing, but terrorism is another.  That¹s where Harry comes in, taking on murderous political extortionists, while dealing with department-assigned female partner Tyne Daly. The DVD release of The Enforcer features the documentary Harry Callahan/Clint Eastwood: Something Special In Films and the theatrical trailer.   Rated R.  97 mins.

SUDDEN IMPACT: Harry tracks an avenger whose sense of justice may, at first glance, seem to mimic his own in this spellbinding scorcher that had all America saying, "Go ahead.  Make my day..." The DVD release will feature the theatrical trailers.  Rated R.  117 mins.

THE DEAD POOL: It’s not RSVP, but it could be RIP when Harry¹s name turns up on a mysterious killer¹s celebrity hit list.  Unfortunately for the killer, Harry has no interest in making his demented social scene.  The DVD release will feature the theatrical trailers. Rated R.   92 mins.

CLINT EASTWOOD: OUT OF THE SHADOWS: Unforgiven co-star Morgan Freeman narrates a richly entertaining insider¹s look at Eastwood¹s personal life and public career. Loaded with rare archival material, star commentaries and film clips.  Rated R.  87 mins.

THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES: Considered one of the last great westerns, Eastwood is a peaceful farmer who goes on a mission of vengeance when his family is killed and he is left for dead by renegade outlaws. The enhanced DVD reissue of THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES will include an introduction by Eastwood, the 1999 documentary Hell Hath No Fury: The Making Of The Outlaw Josey Wales, the 1976 documentary, Eastwood In Action and the theatrical trailer.  Rated PG.  136 mins.

Melanie Ballard (Henstridge), a headstrong police lieutenant of the Martian Police Force is on transport assignment to bring James "Desolation" Williams (Cube), the planet's most notorious criminal, to justice.  Williams has no plans to make Ballard's job easy. On November 20, 2001 Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment will release The Romantic Comedy DVD Gift Set which includes the following four titles:

MY BEST FRIEND'S WEDDING SPECIAL EDITION

Academy Award-winner Julia Roberts (Erin Brockovich) stars as a woman who decides she is in love with her best friend...on the eve of his wedding to someone else.  This $100 million dollar romantic comedy also stars Dermot Mulroney (Young Guns), Cameron Diaz (Charlie's Angels) and Rupert Everett (An Ideal Husband) in a hysterical breakthrough performance.

SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE DELUXE EDITION

It's Christmas Eve and on this particular night radio talk show psychologist Marcia Fieldstone has asked her listening audience what they are wishing and dreaming of during this season of hope.  A little boy, Jonah (Ross Malinger), who is tuned in from Seattle calls in his wish, a new wife for his father (Academy Award-Winner Tom Hanks, Philadelphia ) who has been widowed for a year and a half.  Meanwhile, all the way across the country, punching buttons on her car radio as she drives from Baltimore to Washington, D.C., Annie Reed (Meg Ryan, Proof of Life) hears Jonah and is immediately captivated by him and his selfless Christmas wish.  Like thousands, maybe even millions, of other listeners, Annie is especially moved when Jonah's dad is persuaded to join in the on-air conversation.  And when, in his funny, sweet yet sad way, he begins to talk about how much he loved his wife, something extraordinary happens to Annie which she really isn't even aware of at the time.  Something she has never experienced in her entire life.  Something like...magic. Jonah and his dad are immediately besieged by countless letters from listeners reaching out to help, including thousands of marriage proposals from women across the country.  Meanwhile, inspired in equal parts by Jonah's phone call and by classic Hollywood romance, Annie Reed eventually becomes completely convinced that it is her destiny to meet Sam, Jonah's lovely dad.  And, as Annie sees it, there are just two minor problems.  First, she is presently engaged to marry another man (Bill Pullman, While You Were Sleeping) whom she does love.  And, of course, Jonah's dad does not know yet that he and Annie are made for each other.

THE WEDDING PLANNER

Mary Fiore (Lopez) is the wedding planner.  She's ambitious, hard-working, extremely organized, and she knows exactly what to do and say to make any wedding a spectacular event.  But when Mary falls (literally) for a handsome doctor (McConaughey), her busy yet uncomplicated life is turned upside down - he's the groom in the biggest wedding of her career! Will she help him walk down the aisle with his Internet tycoon girlfriend (Wilson- Sampras), or will Mary finally get to be the bride herself?  As this sweet romantic comedy proves, when it comes to love, you can never plan what's going to happen.

AS GOOD AS IT GETS

Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt in Academy Award-winning performances star alongside Greg Kinnear and Cuba Gooding, Jr., in director James L. Brooks' hit comedy, AS GOOD AS IT GETS. Nicholson gives a show-stopping performance as Melvin Udall, an obsessive-compulsive novelist with Manhattan's meanest mouth. But when his neighbor Simon is hospitalized, Melvin is forced to babysit Simon's dog. And that unexpected act of kindness-along with waitress Carol Connelly-helps put Melvin back in the human race.

PLUCKING THE DAISY

Plucking the Daisy is just one of the two-dozen films of the 1950s that swiftly established Brigitte Bardot as the bold new model of female sexuality in post-war society. In the film, also known as Mademoiselle Striptease, Bardot plays the coquettish daughter of a stuffy French official. Finding herself in Paris at the center of several well-timed misunderstandings, BB's sexual high jinks culminate with an unforgettable performance in a striptease contest. Home Vision Entertainment is proud to present BB fans with this scintillating screwball romp in a stunning new digital transfer! Plucking the Daisy Now Available on DVD!!

THE NIGHT HEAVEN FELL

Two years after she revolutionized the foreign film market by starring in husband Roger Vadim's And God Created Woman, Bardot and Vadim reunited to unleash that seductive persona of the virginal temptress upon rural Spain in The Night Heaven Fell. Fresh from the convent, Ursula (Bardot) becomes embroiled in the bizarre Oedipal rituals being carried out by her Aunt, Uncle and local stud Lamberto (Stephen Boyd). After he kills her lecherous Uncle and sleeps with her sexually deprived Aunt (Alida Valli), Ursula and Lamberto flee to the hills. And that's when things really heat up. Home Vision Entertainment is proud to present this Cinemascope extravaganza in a luminous new transfer enhanced for 16X9 televisions.

DON JUAN

In 1956, Roger Vadim began his feature film career by exposing the public to Brigitte Bardot in And God Created Woman. Both went on to great success -- Bardot as an international sex symbol and Vadim as an acclaimed director of the French Nouvelle Vague. Then, in 1973, the year of "porno-chic" and the Equal Rights Amendment, Vadim saw his last opportunity to re-visit the sexual phenomenon he had a hand in creating. Don Juan (or if Don Juan Were a Woman), is a salacious drama about the sexual exploits and conquests of Jeanne (Bardot) told in flashback. She confesses to her priest and cousin that she has sought a life devouring and destroying men because of a traumatic childhood episode: her father died of a heart attack while admonishing her promiscuous behavior. After Don Juan, BB withdrew from human interaction and vanished from the silver screen committing her life to animal rights.

SPIRITS OF THE DEAD: Three Tales of the Macabre by Edgar Allan Poe

Metzengerstein Directing his then wife and brother-in-law, Jane and Peter Fonda, Roger Vadim adapts this Poe story about a medieval woman who takes a liking to her cousin. When he doesn't respond in kind she sets his stable ablaze. Running into the fiery stable, he sacrifices his life to save his prize horse. However, Jane's character is convinced that this horse now contains some remnant of her cousin's soul -- especially when it tries to kill her. William WilsonLouis Malle directs Brigitte Bardot and Alain Delon: two of the sexiest people of the sixties. Delon plays an Austrian officer confessing to a priest that he has murdered his doppelganger and committed a host of other vicious acts, including the whipping of Brigitte Bardot. The priest is so appalled he cannot offer him any absolution. Left with nothing else to do the officer decides to commit one final act -- upon himself. Never Bet the Devil Your Heador Toby Dammit Fellini's contribution to Spirits of the Dead is a prime example of his consummate skills as a director. Terence Stamp (The limey) plays a drunken rock star/actor who agrees to shoot a Catholic Western in Rome in exchange for a brand new sports car. While shooting he is haunted by the presence of a little girl bouncing a white ball. When the crew wraps the actor attempts to jump his new car over a dilapidated bridge. The mysterious little girl appears just in time to pick up the pieces.

KRISTIN LAVRANSDATTER

This epic love story set in 14th-century Norway is Liv Ullmann's (Sophie) remarkable adaptation of Sigrid Undset's 1928 Nobel Prize-winning novel. Kristin Lavransdatter follows one woman's decision to break with tradition to marry the man she loves rather than the man her father has chosen for her. Torn between her longing for love and her sense of family loyalty, she ventures into a life filled with passion and pain, joy and sorrow. The star of many Ingmar Bergman films (Scenes from a Marriage, Autumn Sonata), director Ullmann collaborates here with cinematographer Sven Nykvist (Cries and Whispers) to create a film as visually entrancing as Bergman's finest. Her insightful exploration of medieval society captures the essence of life throughout the ages. Now, for the first time, the full-length director's cut that had half of Norway in the theaters is available to American audiences.

PRIVATE CONFESSIONS

Written by Ingmar Bergman and directed by his long time friend and leading actress Liv Ullmann, Private Confessions is the continuation of Best Intentions (1992), exploring Bergman's childhood memory of his parents' turbulent marriage. Anna and Henrik, the fictionalized names of Bergman's parents, are again played by Pernilla August and Samuel Fröler. Structured around five conversations shown out of chronological order, Private Confessions is about the isolation and loneliness felt by Anna, the wife of Henrik, an unfeeling Lutheran minister. She begins by confessing to her Uncle Jacob that she is having an adulterous affair with a younger theology student (Thomas Hanzon). Upon his insistence, she informs her husband of the affair. The manner of her confessions and the conversations that continue to unfold revisit a major Bergman theme: the frustration and futility of a passionate soul unable to escape-or even reconcile-the strict moral framework in which it lives. With the intense gloom of Max von Sydow as Uncle Jacob, and the great Sven Nykvist behind the camera, Liv Ullmann continues the Bergman legacy of Love, God and Guilt.

THE ROCKING HORSE WINNER

A young boy finds that he is able to pick winning race horses--but with terrifying results.

VICTIM

A cinematic milestone, Victim was one of the first films to deal seriously and openly with homosexuality. Basil Dearden's (The League of Gentlemen) taut thriller focuses on a bisexual lawyer (Dirk Bogarde, The Servant, The Woman in Question) who risks his marriage and reputation to prosecute a ring of blackmailers that targets gay men. Made when British law still outlawed "homosexual acts," Victim was a risk to the careers of all those involved, but screenwriters Janet Green and John McCormick skillfully avoided both sensationalism and stereotypes. Victim marked a turning point for matinee idol Bogarde, who moved from lightweight to serious, attention-getting roles. Shot on location in London with an impeccable cast, Dearden's stylish film helped forge a new realism in British cinema.

LOUISIANA STORY

Nominated for an Oscar® and the winner of the Pulitzer Prize for its musical score, Robert J. Flaherty's last masterpiece is a visually stunning, lyrical tribute to a land and its people. Known as the 'Father of the Documentary', Flaherty fills every frame of this exquisitely photographed film with his poetic vision of nature and the human spirit. Through the eyes of a young Cajun boy living on the Louisiana Bayou, Flaherty tells a story of disruption and change when an oil rig brings industry into his pristine world. Listed on the National Film Registry as a national treasure, Louisiana Story has finally been restored to its original glory.

Latest Installment in the Highly Successful Series

The original Tremors and its direct-to-video sequel, Tremors 2: Aftershocks have generated an incredible fan base and enjoyed outstanding success with home viewers. As they began to conceive their third Tremors film, series creators S.S. Wilson, Brent Maddock and Nancy Roberts saw it as natural evolution, in which they would up the ante with all-new, original and more frightening creatures, but also bring back some of the familiar faces from the original film. Returning for a second round, along with third-timer Gross, is Charlotte Stewart as Nancy, Ariana Richards as her daughter Mindy, Tony Genaro as Miguel and Bobby Jayne as Melvin Plug. Finding out what happened to the original inhabitants of Perfection became a very important design element which the producers were happy to emphasize for their growing legion of fans.

Synopsis

Burt Gummer (Michael Gross), gun-toting survivalist and veteran of the Graboid-hunting adventures of Tremors 1 and 2, returns home to Perfection, Nevada from a heroic adventure against the creatures in Argentina, only to find that things have changed in his hometown. Once overwhelmed and devastated by battles with the Graboids, most of the residents no longer take the threat of their return seriously. Instead, tourists have taken over the town and pay to go on makeshift "Graboid Tours," complete with cheesy special effects that attempt to simulate giant worm attacks. But the apparent bucolic calm is soon broken when a phony Graboid attack turns frighteningly real and the town¹s residents are suddenly faced with a terrifying reality. The Graboids have returned! To make things worse, a government team arrives declaring the Graboids an endangered species and thus protected from harm of any kind. The kicker comes when the Graboids begin mutating once again, into something far more lethal and very nearly indestructible. Is there anything that can stop these new creatures? The task seems well nigh impossible...

LITTLE WOMEN & NOW, VOYAGER COME TO DVD FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER WITH NEW DIGITAL TRANSFERS AND RESTORED AUDIO

Movie Marvels Bring Katharine Hepburn and Bette Davis Home for the Holidays

On November 13, Warner Home Video (WHV) will introduce for the first time ever on DVD the romantic classics LITTLE WOMEN (1933) and NOW, VOYAGER.  The DVDs will sell for $19.98 suggested retail price each.

The holiday favorite LITTLE WOMEN was directed by George Cukor and starred the incomparable Katharine Hepburn as Jo, the most fiercely independent of Louisa May Alcott's spirited March sisters.  Featuring an Academy Award®-winning screenplay adapted from the beloved Alcott novel, the film tells the story of Jo and her sisters Meg, Beth and Amy, growing up in New England with their mother while their father is serving as a chaplain in the Civil War.

For generations, Americans have adored the adventures of Jo and her romance with her neighbor Laurie, as the four girls share hijinks and heartaches on their journeys to womanhood.  In addition to its Academy Award® for Best Writing, LITTLE WOMEN was also nominated for Best Director (George Cukor) and Best Picture.

Special features on the LITTLE WOMEN DVD include a brand new digital transfer and audio restoration, additional audio track music cues from Max Steiner's score, the theatrical trailer, notes on the Hepburn/Cukor collaboration, and English, French, Spanish and Portuguese subtitles.  This edition also has Mandarin and Korean subtitles.

Synopsis

Screen greats Robert Mitchum, Peter Falk, and Arthur Kennedy star in the riveting war drama ANZIO, a vivid portrait of one of the bloodiest WWII battles ever fought.  After landing with Allied troops at Anzio, Italy in 1944, war correspondent Dick Ennis (Mitchum) and buddy Corporal Rabinoff (Falk) tell Anzio commander General Lesley (Kennedy) that the road to Rome is wide open. But instead of heading to Rome, Lesley attempts to build a coastal stronghold, only to discover that the Germans have outflanked them by enclosing the Anzio beachhead. Four months and over 30,000 casualties later, the Allied forces smash through the German lines and victoriously march to Rome. Directed by highly-acclaimed action director Edward Dmytryk (The Caine Mutiny, Back to Bataan), ANZIO is a powerful film and a symbol of heroic tenacity.
