Disc One: THE ATTIC & CRAWLSPACE

THE ATTIC

A father has enslaved his own daughter for 15 years, forcing her to care for him and clean every room in his house, except the attic. When she dares to look in the attic, she is shocked by what she finds.

CRAWLSPACE

This psychotic thriller tells the story of a murderous landlord who spies on his female tenants from an elaborate network of crawlspaces.

Disc Two: DERANGED & MOTEL HELL

DERANGED

Based on the same terrifying true story that inspired Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Silence Of The Lambs, this hauntingly scary film chronicles the grisly exploits of a rural necrophiliac and murderer.

MOTEL HELL

Veteran actor Rory Calhoun stars as the delightfully fiendish Farmer Vincent in this deliciously ghoulish tale of the macabre that has become a cult classic.

Disc Three: THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH & THE PREMATURE BURIAL

THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH

Edgar Allan Poe's cryptic medieval tale stars Patrick MacNee as the evil masked man who conjures up a disfiguring and deadly plague wherever he goes.

THE PREMATURE BURIAL

Directed by Roger Corman and based on the story by Edgar Allan Poe, this spooky and gothic film tells the tale of a medical student whose worst nightmare, being buried alive, eventually comes true.

Disc Four: THE OBLONG BOX & SCREAM AND SCREAM AGAIN

THE OBLONG BOX

Based on the story by Edgar Allan Poe, Vincent Price and Christopher Lee are at their terrifying best as a plantation owner with a shocking family secret and a wealthy doctor desperate to continue his morbid experiments on human flesh.

SCREAM AND SCREAM AGAIN

A deranged scientist, seeking to create a race of super humans by means of organic transplants, commits a series of brutal murders in order to utilize the bodies in his bizarre experiments.

Disc Five: WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH HELEN? & WHOEVER SLEW AUNTIE ROO?

WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH HELEN?

Harassed by threatening telephone calls, the Midwestern mothers of two teenage murderers move to Hollywood in the 1930s and open a dancing school for would-be Shirley Temples. But their new life is spoiled by reminders of their past when mysterious strangers begin to haunt them. This satirical melodrama stars Shelley Winters and Debbie Reynolds.

WHOEVER SLEW AUNTIE ROO?

Starring Shelley Winters, this suspenseful retelling of the tale "Hansel and Gretel" depicts a woman who loves children-to death. When she holds her annual Christmas party for the local orphanage, she kidnaps an orphan girl who reminds her of her "missing" daughter. But the little girl's brother uncovers a terrible secret when he finds the mummified remains of Auntie Roo's daughter in the attic.

THE JEFFERSONS: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON MAKES ITS FIRST-EVER APPEARANCE ON DVD AUG. 6 IN A SPECIAL 2-DISC SET

When they moved out of Queens and into their "deluxe apartment in the sky," George and Louise Jefferson made TV history as the first upwardly mobile African-American

couple to star in their own weekly series.

Now THE JEFFERSONS: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON moves on up to DVD in a two-disc boxed set that makes its debut Aug. 6 from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment.

A spin-off of "All In the Family" (also available on DVD from CTHE), THE JEFFERSONS began its ground-breaking, Emmy-winning, ten-year run on American television in September 1975 and remained a Nielsen ratings hit until it left the airwaves in 1985.

The new two-disc set features the first season's 13 episodes starring Sherman Hemsley as the obnoxiously egotistical George Jefferson and Isabel Sanford, who won an Emmy Award in 1981 as his levelheaded, sarcastic wife Louise - known best to George and the show's millions of fans as "Weezy." In addition to her win, Sanford was nominated seven times for her performances, and the show received a total of 13 Emmy nominations.

THE JEFFERSONS' memorable supporting cast includes Marla Gibbs as the Jeffersons' lazy, wisecracking maid Florence; Roxie Roker and Franklin Cover as the racially mixed couple Tom and Helen Willis; Paul Benedict as the odd, British neighbor Mr. Bentley; and, during the first season, Damon Evans as the Jeffersons' college-aged son Lionel (later replaced by Mike Evans).

Created by prolific television producer Norman Lear, George and Louise Jefferson were originally neighbors of Archie and Edith Bunker. Their special guest spots on "All In the Family" proved so popular that it was a natural to star them in their own situation comedy. The new DVD release marks the first time that the first season has been available as a single boxed set, and offers each episode in an uncut format that showcases one of America's most influential television comedies as it was originally presented.

SANFORD AND SON: THE FIRST SEASON TWO-DISC BOXED SET COMES TO DVD ON AUG. 6

The inimitable Redd Foxx became a household name when TV's SANFORD AND SON debuted on Jan. 14, 1972. Now, audiences can rediscover his comic genius as SANFORD AND SON: THE FIRST SEASON makes its DVD debut on Aug. 6 in a two-disc boxed set from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment.

Few television series have achieved the status of SANFORD AND SON, which spent five seasons chronicling the misadventures of cantankerous junk dealer Fred Sanford (Foxx), his nonplused son Lamont (Demond Wilson) and the residents who lived near 9114 South Central in Los Angeles. The new two-disc DVD boxed set includes all 13 episodes from the comedy's first season on TV.

SANFORD AND SON debuted on CBS as a mid-season replacement, and quickly caught hold with viewers, who were delighted by the gruff, slightly bawdy Fred Sanford and the cast of characters that populated the show, which was produced by Bud Yorkin and by Tandem Productions -- producer Norman Lear's company that was also responsible for bringing "All In the Family" and "THE JEFFERSONS" to the American public.

The unforgettable ensemble cast led by Foxx, along with a jaunty theme song by Quincy Jones, resulted in a smash hit that fit perfectly with the adult-oriented comedies that filled the airwaves in the early 1970s. SANFORD AND SON remained on the air until 1977, and was nominated for seven Emmy awards during its five-year run.

The new DVD release marks the first time that the first season has been available as a single boxed set, and offers each episode in an uncut format that showcases the episodes as they were originally presented.

DOGTOWN AND Z-BOYS ARRIVES ON SPECIAL-EDITION DVD AUG. 6

Brash, High-Energy Romp Explores the Creation of an American Pop-Culture Phenomenon

They were accidental revolutionaries, kids who only wanted to have a little fun … and ended up changing the culture of an entire nation. Nicknamed "Z Boys," they’re at the heart of DOGTOWN AND Z-BOYS, an infectiously energetic documentary about the rise of skateboarding that debuts on special-edition DVD and videocassette Aug. 6 from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment. Directed by Stacy Peralta, a legend among skateboard aficionados, DOGTOWN AND Z-BOYS begins its story in a section of Venice, Calif., that was so rundown it was tagged with the unsavory "Dogtown" moniker. It’s where the Zephyr Skating Team was created – a group of teenagers who used the Jeff Ho & Zephyr Production Surf Shop as a home away from home. They started practicing their skateboarding moves in empty swimming pools, leading to a quest for the perfect pool and, ultimately, the public unveiling of their unique brand of athletics at the Bahne-Cadi llac Skateboard Championship in 1975.  As the aggressive Dogtown style (and pugnacious attitude that went with it) began taking hold, the young masters of this new style of sport became international superstars.  Although the Z-Boys era ended shortly after its members took off on international skating careers, its legacy remains an inextricable part of American culture today.  How that culture came to be is in part an exploration of who we are as a society. And it makes for a one-of-a-kind, disarmingly entertaining and wholly unique film experience.

DOGTOWN AND Z-BOYS: A Sony Pictures Classics Release. Narrated by Sean Penn. Executive Producer Jay Wilson. Produced by Agi Orsi. Directed by Stacy Peralta.

SIX HIGH-RIDING WESTERNS DEBUT ON DVD IN JOHN WAYNE: ‘THE DUKE’--  SPECIAL DVD BOXED SET PREMIERES MAY 14

His place in film history is legend. His screen presence is riveting. John Wayne is an American icon, and six of his earliest Westerns will be available on DVD for the first time on May 14 in JOHN WAYNE: ‘THE DUKE’ from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment.

The boxed set offers movie lovers and Western fans two DVDs with a total of six films from Wayne's early Hollywood outings. Each is an entry in the "Lone Star Westerns," a series of micro-budget Westerns originally produced by Leon Schlesinger, the producer who took a chance on the tight-lipped, 6'4" actor. Despite his leading role in 1930's "The Big Trail," Wayne had years to go before achieving superstardom, and the "Lone Star Westerns" (originally distributed by Warner Bros.) were a stopover on his way to fame.

Each of the titles is less than 60 minutes long, befitting the "B-movie" format of the Westerns, but in that short time each of the films throws the spotlight on the actor who would achieve an almost mythical status in his later years.

Among Wayne's co-stars in these Westerns are such luminaries as Noah Beery, Walter Brennan, George "Gabby" Hayes and Yakima Canutt.

CHARLIE CHAPLIN'S GENIUS LAUNCHED TO A NEW GENERATION AS RARE AND EXCLUSIVE MATERIAL IS UNVEILED IN CANNES. WARNER HOME VIDEO AND MK2 STRIKE A SENSATIONAL DEAL TO DISTRIBUTE THE CHARLIE CHAPLIN COLLECTION.

Warner Home Video (the home video division of Warner Bros.) and MK2 jointly announced today that they have entered into an exclusive deal to distribute worldwide newly re-mastered versions of eighteen classic Charlie Chaplin feature films. The state of the art DVDs will include never-before-seen outtakes, backstage glimpses and family home movie footage.

The titles in the Charlie Chaplin Collection range from his 1925 silent classic, "THE GOLD RUSH," to his 1958 feature "A KING IN NEW YORK." These timeless examples of cinema's first and favourite comedy genius are being digitally-re-mastered by the film preservation specialists at the world-famous Bologna Cinematheque.

The Cannes announcement was made by Warren Lieberfarb, President of Warner Home Video, known as "the Architect of DVD," and Marin Karmitz, founder and President of MK2. Helping to launch the new venture was Chaplin's actress daughter Geraldine, who gave her full support: "On behalf of the family, I am personally delighted that my father's legacy is in the hands of such enthusiasts as MK2 and Warner Bros.  We are, and will continue to be, intrinsically involved with the enhancement of the films that he created. By having access to these films on the latest DVD format, the public will be able to experience, at first hand, never-before-seen archive materials, as well as enjoying the films themselves in pristine condition, as my father intended."

As Marin Karmitz explains, "MK2's objective is to allow the man who is undeniably one of the major artists of the 20th century to regain his position in cinema and to have younger generations rediscover an important body of work which is still very modern today." The Chaplin family had previously entrusted France's leading independent production and distribution company with the worldwide distribution rights to these films. Warner Home Video's global reach and pre-eminence in DVD marketing and technology makes them the ideal distribution partnership. MK2 will produce the editorial content and the DVD masters in Europe.

"It is a true honor for Warner Home Video to be able to bring the work of one of cinema's true geniuses to DVD," added Warren Lieberfarb.  "This new partnership with MK2 reconfirms our commitment to commercial marketing of cinema in the video media, particularly DVD.  It also reinforces our objectives to restore and preserve great cinematic works and aids in the education and understanding of cinema."

MK2 will produce individually-tailored half-hour documentaries to accompany each of these eighteen classics. Leading modern day figures in the world of film will present a personal look at Chaplin and his work. A special bonus included in the DVD of "The Great Dictator" will be a 47-minute tribute by the distinguished film historian Kevin Brownlow. Cutting edge DVD technology combined with the artistry of a man whose vision was decades ahead of his time gives movie lovers worldwide this not-to-be-missed opportunity

The Chaplin Collection will be launched on DVD in the Spring of 2003 and it is anticipated that its release will be accompanied by cinema retrospectives of Chaplin's work in many major cities across the world.  In France, MK2 plan to re-launch "The Great Dictator" in 200 cinemas on October 16th, 2002 and will release the film on DVD in November 2002.

It's the first teaming of Harryhausen and director Nathan Juran, who would go on to make "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad." 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH also marks the first (and only) appearance of the terrifying monster that has come to be known as The Ymir - an outer-space alien that invades Earth when an American rocketship carrying it as a specimen crash lands. From its perch atop the Coliseum, the Ymir launches a ferocious assault upon the Eternal City.

Considered "one of the best monster-on-the-loose movies ever" (Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide), 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH is highlighted by Harryhausen's remarkable effects. They bring the Ymir to life in a dazzling fashion, providing a worthy successor to such Harryhausen favorites as "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" and "It Came from Beneath the Sea."

20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH: Starring William Hopper, Joan Taylor, Thomas Browne Henry, Frank Puglia. Screenplay by Bob Williams and Christopher Knopf. Tehnical Effects by Ray Harryhausen. Produced by Charles H. Schneer. Directed by Nathan Juran.

REAL GENIUS, LOOK WHO'S TALKING NOW AND LOST IN YONKERS DEBUT ON DVD JUNE 11

Val Kilmer, John Travolta, Kirstie Alley and Richard Dreyfuss Star in a Trio of Comedy Favorites

Three comedy hits that offer laughs for the entire family debut on DVD June 11 from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment -- REAL GENIUS, LOOK WHO’S TALKING NOW and Neil Simon's LOST IN YONKERS.

"REAL GENIUS"

Val Kilmer ("Batman Forever," "Top Gun") is a college-aged genius whose IQ is almost as high as his propensity for finding ways to embarrass the establishment. When an even younger and smarter whiz-kid (Gabe Jarret) joins him on campus, they learn their think tank has been unwittingly helping develop top-secret weapons for the military ... and they work together to thwart the plans.

"LOOK WHO’S TALKING NOW"

First it was Baby Mikey. Two years later, he was joined by Baby Julie. Now that the kids can talk, it's time for the dogs to have their say! John Travolta ("Swordfish") and Kirstie Alley (TV's "Cheers") reprise their roles from LOOK WHO'S TALKING and LOOK WHO'S TALKING TOO in a hilarious continuation of the popular series. Danny DeVito and Diane Keaton are on hand to lend their voices to the canine stars.

"LOST IN YONKERS"

Oscar winner Richard Dreyfuss ("The Goodbye Girl") stars in the film adaptation of Neil Simon's Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy-drama, directed by Martha Coolidge ("Rambling Rose"). It also features stunning performances by Mercedes Ruehl ("The Fisher King") and Irene Worth ("Deathtrap"), repeating the roles that won them both Tony Awards. Set in World War II, it's the story of two brothers sent to live with their iron-willed German grandmother (Worth), their tender-hearted Aunt Bella (Ruehl) and their would-be mobster Uncle Louie (Dreyfuss).

ZEBRAHEAD DEBUTS ON DVD JUNE 18

At once an unflinching examination of racial stereotypes and an intense romantic drama, ZEBRAHEAD makes it first-ever appearance on DVD on June 18 from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment.

ZEBRAHEAD stars Michael Rapaport ("The 6th Day," "Men of Honor") in his film debut as Zack, a white teenager who lives and goes to school in a predominantly African-American area of Detroit. Zack makes no distinctions along racial lines, and it seems natural to him and his best friend, Dee (Kevin Corrigan, "Chelsea Walls"), when he begins dating the new girl in town, Dee's beautiful cousin Nikki (N'Bushe Wright, "Blade"). Not everyone agrees.

Zack's white friends taunt him for dating an African-American girl; Nikki's friends laugh with disbelief at her white boyfriend's attempts to "act black." But their romance is tested when Nut (Ron Johnson, "Sister Act 2"), a local gangbanger, decides he wants Nikki to be his.

An authentic, sober-eyed view of the life and loves of an urban teenager, ZEBRAHEAD is "a 13 on a one-to-10 scale," according to Gary Franklin of KCOP-TV, Los Angeles.

ZEBRAHEAD: Also starring DeShonn Castle, Ray Sharkey, Paul Butler. Executive Producers Oliver Stone, Janet Yang. Produced by Jeff Dowd, Charles Mitchell, William Willett. Written and directed by Anthony Drazan.

THE ROLLING STONES GATHER NO MOSS CONCERT TOUR RECALLS CRITERION DVD PROVIDES FLASH BACKS

The Rolling Stones recently announced their schedule for the Rolling Stones World Tour 2002/2003.  With the return to the stage of one of Rocks most famous bands, one can't help but flash back to their 1969 concert at the Altamont Speedway outside San Francisco. That historic concert, captured in the landmark documentary GIMME SHELTER, signaled an abrupt end to the free-spirited love, drugs and Rock n' Roll era.

Available on DVD from the renowned The Criterion Collection and considered "the greatest rock film ever made," GIMME SHELTER follows the Rolling Stones on their notorious 1969 U.S. tour. When 300,000 members of the Love Generation collided with a few dozen Hell's Angels at San Francisco's Altamont Speedway, direct cinema pioneers David and Albert Maysles and Charlotte Zwerin immortalized on film the bloody slash that transformed a decade's dreams into disillusionment.

DVD Extras include a breathtaking new high-definition transfer of the uncensored 30th Anniversary version, never-before-seen performances of the Rolling Stones at Madison Square Garden in 1969, including "Little Queenie," "Oh Carol," and "Prodigal Son," plus backstage outtakes, audio commentary by directors Albert Maysles and Charlotte Zwerin, and collaborator Stanley Goldstein, and excerpts from KSAN Radio's Altamont wrap-up, recorded December 7, 1969, with new introductions by then-DJ, Stefan Ponek plus much more.
