TURBULENCE Okay, so TURBULENCE ($25) is a "check your brain at the door" action movie. That doesnt mean you wont have a good time watching it on DVD. Ray Liotta stars as a psycho serial killer that manages to take control of a transcontinental passenger flight on Christmas Eve. While being transported from New York to Los Angeles, another prisoner eliminates the guards, turning the situation to the killers advantage. Things go from bad to worse as both pilots end up dead, leaving only a flight attendant to fly the plane and match wits with the deranged killer. Lauren Holly is the plucky flight attendant who has to try to keep the plane in the air, while the serial killer does everything in his power to cause a crash, allowing him to take out as many people as possible. The cast of TURBULENCE also features Ben Cross, Rachel Ticotin, Catherine Hicks and Hector Elizondo. HBO Home Video has given TURBULENCE a very good-looking Letterboxed transfer which restores the films 1.85:1 theatrical framing. The transfer is sharp and nicely detailed, while the colors appear fresh and have incredibly vivid saturation. Digital compression artifacts were noticeable in some of the darker areas of the image, but usually werent too bothersome. The Dolby Digital 5.1 channel soundtrack has a super action movie mix, with great channel separation and deep explosive bass. Other soundtrack options include a matrixed Dolby surround track and a French language track. Subtitles are available in English, French and Spanish. The interactive menus offer access to a theatrical trailer as well as cast and crew biographies/filmographies. |
